Video calls are on the rise these days as it enables you to make face to face communication in real-time. People mostly use such calling using several apps, but it is also possible to make video calls directly from the mobile network. Where you do not have to install any mobile apps nor it requires data connection. It was first introduced on the 3G mobile network and continued ever since. But there may be some requirements on both the network side and the user device end.
Check out: 3G vs 4G network; which one should you use?
When the 3G network was developed, one of the most differentiating features to 2G was video calling among others. It was based on traditional circuit-switched technology as 3G itself was of the same. As Nepal was the first country in South Asia to launch a 3G network from Ntc, it brought video calling to the country. That time, it enabled happy faces to talk to each other but in limited areas of Kathmandu.
Later when the 3G network got expanded to the whole of the country, the feature got a wide reach to the masses. So Ntc and Ncell subscribers could make video calls from the 3G network which has got a separate tariff, a little bit expensive than voice call rate.
Not all mobile devices support video calling but it requires both the calling end, called party to have the supporting handsets. All Samsung phones support this native video calling over the default phone app. Previously Nokia phones and Sony phones also used to support it. (If you know any other phone that supports this 3G calling, please comment below).
Video call over apps is almost free of charge whereas for making such calls directly from phone dialer, it costs you some balance per minute.
Video call service in Ntc and Ncell
The live video calling was expensive with the first launch in Ntc, which was Rs 10 per minute. Later it got reduced to Rs 5 and then to Rs 2 per minute (exclusive of taxes). NTC has opened this calling service to all 3G subscribers. So, you do not have to activate the service in Ntc.
Video calling in the Ncell 3G network costs Rs 1.99 (without taxes). But you need to dial some numbers or codes to subscribe to the service.
To activate video call in Ncell, you have to
Send a message A to 9696
Dial *100# and find the option there.
Dial 900 and follow the instructions from IVR.
All of the processes will activate the service for free.
You can make video calls from voice packs as well.
Now that we have an upgrade in the mobile network that is 4G, it is also possible with 4G using a technology called Video over LTE or generically called VoLTE. As known, Nepal Telecom is launching the VoLTE service which will change the way we make calls and that too at a higher fidelity.
Tell us what do you think of the service that enables making calls and see the faces at the same time using a mobile network? Do you prefer it over OTT apps, with almost free calling but require data connection on both ends?
Yubaraj Khatiwoda inaugurated an online share transaction system at that time. Even after the launch, the online share buy and sell took a lot of time to be feature-full & stable. Find the process to buy/sell share online trading through the Nepse portal in Nepal.
It is believed that the introduction of online share trading will lift our share market to an international level. On the occasion of 25 years of establishment of the Stock exchange, full online share buy/sell in Nepal.
A Surge in Online Share Buying/Selling
The online share trading in the secondary market has recently increased its number and popularity among investors. As per the latest 2020 data, the percentage of online share transaction has become one-third of the total transaction in a week (source: Nepalipaisa). It is also due to the proliferation of smartphones and the expansion of 4G connectivity throughout the country.
The COVID-19 pandemic also gave a big boost to Online share trading due to the virus threat. Now
NEPSE believed that online share trading will be a stepping stone for the stock market. Fully automated online transaction eliminates unnecessary movement of people to the broker’s place. Apart from the easy transaction, it will also remove the blame for the brokers for low prices and delay in selling shares.
There are around 21 thousand investors who do share trading through Nepse online portal. Although the number is quite low (out of 14 lakhs investors), they make big sum of transaction through online means.
Online Share Trading System
NEPSE started to launch the online system for trading. Due to several issues, the launch has been delayed. But they have now a full-fledged system in place after rigorous testing of the online share transaction.
For the normal people to do the online share transaction, the brokers will provide the username and password to enter inside the system. The investors need to update their KYC details in the brokers for access to the online system. Once we get the username and password, we can do all the share transactions including the money transfer itself.
In the first phase, they only allowed the Share brokers to do the online transaction for which they required an account in the system. But now even the end users can buy and sell shares (secondary market) online, without calling brokers.
How to Buy/sell Shares Online?
Here are the steps to follow for buying/selling shares through Nepse online.
To buy or sell shares from the primary or secondary market, you need to have a Demat account. You might have already done a Demat of your shares which you want to sell at the appropriate time. We also recommend using Mero Share along with C-ASBA to manage the share list properly.
Then you should go to the nearest or close security services where you might have already done offline trading before. You also need to make an account for which you need to update KYC details.
You need to reset your password for which click the Forget password link. Then enter your username/client code and email address. If the email address is correct (as used before in the KYC), then you will get the reset link using which you can change the password. Please take into consideration that the password should be of length 7-14 with at least 1 cap, 1 digit, and 1 special character. This helps to secure your password. Do save your password safely somewhere on your mobile or in your computer browser.
After the activation of the online account, you need to browse the trading URL of the broker (provided after KYC update) and enter the username, password, captcha code to log in. The brokers also have their online share trade login URL on their website.
The format of the URL for the TMC is https://tms**.nepsetms.com.np where ** is the number of the security company/broker where you have opened your account.
We recommend you to check if the SIM card is registered in your name?
You can find Nepse indexes (which can also be customized) and DNA logged in (which means if you can transact or not). If the DNA logged in is not there, you need to contact the respective broker from where you made the account.
The pre-open sessions start from 10:30 to 10:45 am and the continuous session starts from 11 am to 3 pm. You can preview the shares market in the pre-open session. For this, you need to use the order management on the left side during the continuous session period. You also need to click normal order and toggle buy or sell in the new tab.
You can manage the fund in the online share trading portal by loading money from your bank using online banking for a specific reason.
The detail of the shares you can sell can also be viewed from DP holding.
You can also view market data inside the system along with top gainers, top losers, daily order lists, and historical order lists.
Nepse Mobile app
NEPSE has also planned to integrate Trading Management System (TMS) in their mobile app. Now the current NEPSE app provides the live share market indexes, price, top gainers/losers as shown on their website. As they have started to prepare a tender for the mobile app, we can expect the new NEPSE mobile app to launch in 6 months. Mero Share has already launched its mobile app for the IPO/FPO/right share buying and assisting share transaction with EDIS share transfer.
With the introduction of online share trading in Nepal, investors can buy or sell the shares through the Nepse online system using the internet on either Mobile, Laptop, or Computer. After nine months wait, the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) finally opened its online application service for driving license from Poush 14, 2077. So, now you do not need to visit their office and queue in lines to register for your driving license. If you were waiting to apply for your license, this post will guide you to fill up driving license online form with correct details.
You can find a Quick Tutorial With Images to Help You Fill Up Your Online Form for Driving License.
Things to Keep in Mind for Online Driving License Form
As already stated, the online application is opened after nine months. Normally the Department of Transport Management offers the service every three months but the Covid19 forced the federal government to halt its license services.
Therefore, there will be a huge crowd waiting to register their names for their driving permit. Many of them pay cyber or driving institutes to fill form for them. But in reality they can do it on their own and also save money. The post will help you to apply online for driving license yourself.
What Makes Applying Online License so Hard?
The government also implements quota system. Every office designated to carry the license service will allow only 200 forms per day. The quota is split among motorbikes with 100 applications and 50/50 for scooters and four wheeler each. The service is available on the first four days of a week and it accepts forms from 6 am till 10 pm at night. It is not the easiest thing to do right now in Nepal.
How to Fill up Online Driving License Form?
To fill up the online driving license form, you need to follow the following steps.
First of all you will have to go to this official website or simply type dotm.gov.np on your browser. This will take you to the homepage.
Now click on the first option to your right indicated with the green rectangle titled अनलाइन सवारी चालक अनुमतिपत्र प्रणाली.
After you click on that link you will get a new window with some information. click on Online Driving License Registration as instructed in the image below.
Next, click on citizenship and choose Nepal than select New License than hit proceed.
After you Proceed, a form will appear. Carefully add all the details and make sure not to take much time on it. Look to the both sides and remember fields marked with asterisk (*) are mandatory. You can’t leave them empty. Be extra careful with Category and Mobile number, once you add them you can’t undo or edit them later. If your residence and is the same as permanent address, it will save you valuable time.
After filling up the details, click on submit. After this, you will learn whether your application have been accepted or invalidated due to quota limitation.
If your form has been accepted you should save the file on PDF format or take a screenshot and visit the office for further procedure. The file contains the date for a bio metric test. You will need to visit your concerned transport management office with your application print, original citizenship and other documents.
Some Tips to Boost Your Chances of Success
The DoTM employs a quota system which limits the rate of success of application. to worsen the scenario, there will be hundred times far more eager applicants trying to register for license. Because the lock down denied the service for nine months. So the chances for successful applications are very slim for many.
However to increase your chances, morning may be the right time to fill up your form quickly. Make sure, your internet speed is decent and consistent and not many using the same WIFI network at the same time. If the page doesn’t open quickly wait for or repeatedly refresh the page as it will open eventually. Get all your details ready in advance to save your time. Once the form shows up, quickly begin to fill them up and leave those unnecessary fields blank if you find them unnecessary.
Recently we have heard the complaints that the site shows quota limitation reached even in the morning. Some have complaints it asks to retry even after filling up every detail correctly. This is not the first time such complaints are heard. But government has not sought to address the concerns and chose to resume with current configurations It may be down due to technical glitch or due to the quota limit, the fact is you will have to take measure to boost your chances of successful application.
